Assemblage art is amongst the most unique styles that fine art has adopted over time. It involves the assemblage of found objects into 2-dimensional and 3 dimensional pieces of art. This premise itself gave so much options in the outcome of my final 'piece', which turned out to be 2 subsequently.
As i went through the different works, famous as well as the ones that were being ideated on by my peer, i understood the power this medium possessed. I could make a collage or a sculpture or a painting or even an installation!
The Concept
But one thing that i was adamant on was the fact that i wanted conceptual strength in whatever work i did. This lead to a week long process of ideating over a concept. As i explored layers and layers and layers of information, i finally set out to explore perspective thought. A term that i coined on my own, along my journey, which basically i understand as the thought that goes behind analysing and interpreting sensory information. A subconscious or even unconscious thought. I decided to toy with this basic idea, representing this conceptuality in two manners. One would entirely depend on the concept, in a very sober and simple manner, whilst the other would use the medium of colour and found forms to depict the image that i perceive of one whose stuck deep in pure thought.

The Thinker
This is basically a portrait of a man who stands in a very obtuse manner. With one hand on his waist whilst the other juts out in a very awkward manner. He barely stands, as he legs float n the wast space of black. He has a pipe in his mouth which blows a single smoke ring. ( A personal belief i keep, of finding smoking to be very helpful in ideating). The background is black with specks of white, which like stars shimmer through the man, explaining the vastness of thought.

I first took black acrylic paint to give rough strokes on a piece of plywood.
I then used bolts of different sizes and coloured the bigger pieces which made the limbs, purple using spray paint. The smaller ones, which were supposed to be joints and fingers, were spray painted pink. The round bolts were left as they were.
I then pasted all these bolts on the plywood accordingly and splattered white ink to make minute dots all over the piece.
'This is a rusty pipe.'

'This is a rusty pipe.'
This a purely conceptual piece which was inspired by Rene Magritte's famous painting , 'This is not a pipe'. This basically challenges the viewers perception of a harmless pipe. Thee statement itself is quite redundant, as it explains what the viewer sees.
