Change is as inevitable as time allows it to be , or is it the other way around ? Is it change that capacitates the even flow that time boasts of ? Is time , a structure , an active and efficient component of a fundamental ideology a facet of change ?
All theses questions , keep piling up ,taking much space of the inquisitive one’s head . Change and time have forever been an integral part of everybody’s life , however they maybe perceived over the multitudes of cultures that exist . A change in age , change in space , change in personality, change in morality , are all few changes that seem to be profoundly evident through out a person’s life . But we also see that it is mostly being brought about by the omnipresence of time and this works the other way around too , seeing change as a catalyst in time . And At different junctures of life we have seemed to submit completely , to these dominant powers and we seem to collect a lot many inferences from these experiences which help avoid future unpleasant confrontations .
The art piece which presents itself as a single wheel held by forks , is far from what it was supposed to be used as from Neanderthal times . It maintains a safe distance from the ground along whose caress does it come into ‘use’. Untamed , it hangs in the air , being spun by the gentle breeze that moves swiftly between it’s spokes , spinning on it’s own accord. This unrest , which it embraces seems to bring it to use in a manner very different from what was at the time of it’s conception . The tire is left free to assume and presume any stance and keep spinning without even coming in contact with the ground. This change in its placement, shape and use , casts a shadow on the ground almost as a sun dial .So bringing change in a direct equation with time . As the difference in the shadow that is cast is monitored by the slow , it helps question the saying that ‘time flies by ‘ . The change in the shadow that stretches from noon to evening and beyond is much slower than the wheel held on the forks , that keeps spinning regardless . So change in itself surpasses our assumption of time , taunting it’s might by the changes in speed and position in the wheel.
This piece presents a conflict in the very way we pass our lives and the meaning we award experiences and instances. It show two conflicting entities co-existing on a relationship that seems to be interdependent . How far is it that these two lie apart in meaning and understanding ? If they can share a place so close , then could they somehow be the same entity ? Have we fundamentally been looking for and at a wrong place for meaning ?
